The Association of Estonian Boatyards started as a keeper of wooden boat building traditions in 1997. The organization was reformed in 2009 and today it connects nearly all the biggest Estonian boatyards and subcontractors. The mission of the Association is to retain and develop shipbuilding traditions and maritime culture in Estonia. Its main goal is to develop Estonian small craft building sector, functioning as a professional association.

The home base of the association is situated on the Estonian island Saaremaa (Ă–sel). The uniqueness of Saaremaa small craft industry is expressed in a diverse production range and in equally high quality standards.
